Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes

Perhaps you've heard about the Clinique Chubby Stick, arguably the most popular item to come from the company since the 3-step system. While we know it originally to be a lightweight lip tint, the Chubby Stick has actually evolved into a franchise, with a recently released intense lip version and in February, the eye version.

The Clinique shadows are pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend, which I never thought I would say about cream eye pencils. I did not experience creasing or fading and they last impressively long even without a primer.

I applied the shadow below (Whopping Willow) exactly the way I did here, using the exact same tool. Recently, I've been needing to simplify my regimen for travel while still looking presentable, and I find that cream eye pencils offer the best of both worlds. One simple stick allows me to achieve a decent look, and when the formula is as good as this, it actually becomes a pleasure to apply (unlike this).

In short, when this launches in February (for $16 apiece), everyone should head to a counter and play and then wave your fist at me because then you'll want to have one (or four) of your own.

Full disclosure: This entry contains sample products sent by PR or the manufacturer for editorial consideration.

  2. These are already out in my city! Yay! So happy to hear they are good! I was worried that they would crease so I was waiting to hear a few reviews before I was going to purchase.

  3. That deep blue is like whoa!! I've been in a simple eye phase so Amber and Willow have my attention as well. I'm excited to see them in store! And it would be a crime not to say that you look so adorable and cozy with your hat and short hair :)

  7. Ooh! I love the look of the purple one. I should probably try to stay away though because every time I buy a cream shadow in pencil form, I NEVER end up using it more than once or twice, no matter how much I love it (like Urban Decay's). Well... maaaybe I'll just get the purple one since I don't really have any cream shadows that color... maybe... *muses*

  8. Whopping Willow sounds like "whomping willow" I wonder if a Harry Potter fan named that one. Definitely the prettiest shade of the lot! love your FOTD with it. Do you have any of the Lid Smoothies cream Shadow by Clinique? I love those and I am wondering how they'd compare. Cream shadows seem to be popping up in a lot of lines, which is good news for me and my aging lids. thanks for the sneak peek

    1. I was going to comment on that! You beat me too it :P

Whopping Willow seriously suits you though. How long do these actually last? Like half a day, an evening...?

    2. I think I wore it for at least six hours without any budging the last time.

  9. Ah I saw these were coming out and figured they'd be good. I can definitely see these being huge sellers. I agree these sorts of pencils are great for travel, I had an UD Sin mini pencil and never really used it, but while on vacation it became my go-to. I'm not in love with all the colors, but I do like the two shades on the left in swatches... actually, the olive is pretty nice too

  11. I really want this but worried that they will crease very easily. I'm glad to hear that they are long lasting.

  12. The swatches look beautiful. Usually when I see swatches of all the colours of a new range I just think: oh, ok... But in this case I want lots of them. I'm also really glad that you consider that the formula is good.
