The Things I Use

A pictorial follow-up to the previous post. Here are some of the makeup (by category) I reach for when I don't have time to think. Instinctive grabbing tells you a lot about the merit of a product –

Blushes

Clockwise: Chanel Brume d'Or, Paul and Joe Color Powder CS in Inseparables, Benefit Dandelion, Addiction Brown Toast, Addiction Damask Rose, LMdB Tenne, LMdB Mystique

Concealers

L-R: RMS "Un" Cover-Up #22, LMdB Peau Vierge Correcteur in Light/Medium, Shu Uemura Kolinsky Brush 15, LMdB Revive Eye Brightening and Setting Powder

It seems my previous HG Cle de Peau (review) has finally been replaced. I barely use it anymore, preferring either the RMS or LMdB for creamier coverage.

Eyeshadows

Clockwise: LMdB Jojo, Addiction Sandbar (top left)/Flash Back (top middle)/Concrete Jungle (bottom right), Burberry Pale Barley, Chanel Notorious

I only listed the names of the neutral "everyday" shadows I use. The NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is a necessity for oily lids!

Eyeliners

L-R: Giorgio Armani Waterproof Smooth Silk Eye Pencil #1, LMdB Nouvelle Vague (4th shade), Shu Uemura Brush 10F, THREE Flash Performance Eyeliner Pencil in Eye On 08 and Eye Belong 04

I would have included LMdB Precision Liner in Noir but my pen dried out and I threw it out at time of photography. I have just purchased my replacement (third one ever).

Mascaras

L-R: Annabelle Le Big Show Mascara, Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

It's not that I don't love my Guerlain Noir G (review) anymore, it's just that I've finished up two tubes of it and can't bear to buy the refill when cheaper alternatives are rocking my world right now. When I'm done, I'm going to buy that Annabelle mascara in bulk. Incidentally, that Eyeko mascara is remarkably effective in holding curl.

Nude Lips

Full disclosure: This entry contains sample products sent by PR or the manufacturer for editorial consideration.

  3. Did you depot your LMdB eyeshadows and put them in a palette? How did you do that and where did you get the palette?

    1. Yes. There's a hole in the back of every eyeshadow single - you can just insert a pin and pop the pan out.

I got the palette from my friend who is an LMdB MUA. Unfortunately it is not for sale :(

  4. The P&J blush is really that good, eh? I've never owned anything from P&J, well just their loose powder. And you do get a lot of use from Notorious?

  6. Hi Xiao,

What a fun post! I have to say that the P&J Inseparables pelican packaging really catches my eye. I love the imagery on Benefit Dandelion as well!

  7. I love this post! I almost bought that P&J blush based on just the cute birds, lol. Now I might have to go back and get it.

    1. I totally bought that blush because of the cute birds. It just turned out that it's pretty fantastic as a blush too :P

  9. I love your picks!
Do you know if Jojo is discontinued?
It's not on the Nordstrom page anymore, and at NeimanMarcus and Bergdorfs it is out of stock.
    Thanks!

    1. Definitely not! Jojo is a permanent staple and I will revolt if they ever discontinue it. It may just be out of stock. Try a counter?

  10. totally love the list and I like you enjoy Addiction Damask Rose too. I've received my first Metier de Beaute lipbalm this week, after your raves, and it's quite the product ♥

  12. You seem to have a LOT of Le Metier products! Are you sponsored by them in any way or just a big fan of their products? :)
    Love this post a LOT!

    1. I'm not sponsored by LMdB. They occasionally send me press samples for review, which I disclose when I write about them. I would say 90% of the LMdB I own (and believe me, I own basically their entire line by now) I paid for myself :)

  13. Hi Xiao! :)

I was really surprised by your photos; the items are only *very* lightly used! Do you not wear makeup on a regular basis (or only do one part of the face/day when not doing tutorials)?

Just curious, as many of your lovely items look the same as the last time I saw them photographed! :)

    1. Hi Angela!
I do wear makeup on a regular basis, but as you can imagine, some items are more well-used than others. I use my brow pencil and concealer daily. As for the state of the items, I take whatever you say as a compliment :P I try to keep my products well-maintained and pretty. Also, I have a lot a lot more products not shown in the picture and I use them as well, and especially with blush/eye shadow you really only need a little per use.
